My Favorite Sleep Products

I often get asked about my favorite sleep products because there are just so many products on the market. Today I’m sharing my must-have sleep product list! (Affiliate links are included below)

favorite sleep products

Putting together this list for you kind of felt like creating a sleep Christmas list! I thought it might be helpful to sort it by age ranges. Several of the products I recommend introducing when your little one is an infant will be helpful for years!

0 to 4 Months Old

If you’ve been with me for awhile, you know that working with families with newborns is one of my passions because I think this group is very neglected in the category of sleep. There are two products that are absolute nursery must-haves for me – a swaddle and a white noise machine.

This swaddle was hands down my favorite because it’s super easy to put on and it stays nice and snug. Little secret: I was never great at swaddling with blankets and this was definitely the only swaddle I could trust my husband to put back on during the night.

White noise machines are helpful for so many reasons, but the key to white noise is that you only use “white noise” – no ocean waves or lullabies. This is a true white noise machine.

Those are my two must have items, but I also want to share three nice-to-have items (for any and all ages). The first is a travel size white noise machine. If you travel or plan to travel, you seriously need this. In fact, I take it for myself when I stay in hotels because it blocks all the random hotel noises. The second is a cool mist humidifier (this is the only one I’ve been able to avoid mold with). My ultimate sleep splurge item is what my youngest daughter calls her “comfy cozy” PJs.

4 to 12 Months

Somewhere between 3 and 4 months, you’ll need to transition your little one out of the swaddle. If your baby still has a strong startle reflexes, you might want to try this transitional sleep sackOnce you get beyond the startle reflex, I LOVE this sleep sack with built-in loveys. It fits snuggly in the upper body and zips to the armpit, which helps prevent your baby from unzipping it down the road. My youngest wore hers until she outgrew their largest size.

1 to 2 Years

At 1 year, I recommend introducing a lovey. Many babies won’t immediately take to the lovey, but most ultimately do and it’s nice for them to have something soft to cuddle with.

If  your little one is still sucking a pacifier, now is a good time to start preparing to throw that sucker out. Check out my post about saying goodbye to the pacifier and start reading the Pacifiers Aren’t Forever book.

2 Years +

For their 2nd birthday, both of my girls got a toddler pillow and a really nice quilt. They both love them!

The other thing I highly recommending at 2 years old is a toddler clock. There are several on the market and they can all work well if you are consistent and follow through. My two personal favorites that my girls have are this “bunny” clock and this tot clock

Extra Tip: When you travel, be sure to pack your child’s pillow, quilt, lovey, sound machine and toddler clock!

If your child goes to daycare or preschool and sleeps on a cot, this cot sleeping bag and pillow us super handy and my girls are big fans.

Last, but not least, “comfy cozy” PJs for toddlers! Both of my girls obsess over their comfy cozies, but sweet Ainsley literally can’t sleep without them – that girl has expensive taste! comfy pajamas

So there you have it! Those are my favorite sleep products. I’ve personally used and loved all of them (other than the Zippadee-Zip because it wasn’t around when my girls were that little). Happy shopping!
